“NO” for some valuable reasons ? or just for fun…
I will outline the reasons in an upcoming article, but for starters, “no” to the King influencing the vote in such an important referendum. The King’s speech should have been made after the nation votes on the constitution, not before.
You do your king and country dishonor. The new constitution will be a step in the right direction. It requires the PM to be from the party that wins the elections, this for the first time in morocco’s history. Is the King going to give up all of his power? No. Only a fool would expect him to. But this constitution grants more room for the PM in the political process. That is a good thing. It should be supported. From now on the king’s power to appoint the PM is limited and the voters will determine which party leads the government of the day. Again, for this reason alone, the answer to the new constitution should be a great big YES!!!
The people who will not vote are the people who want Morocco to advance and become democratic. Defending a tyrant, son of the biggest tyrant of all time is bound to not be taken seriously by anybody with 2 brain cells. I suggest you go and read this new constitution and see for yourself what powers the king gets. They will get their “yes” because they will pay the “baltajia” and the destitute to go and vote. Little do they know that they are voting in favour of the same system that impoverished them. I also suggest you do a comparison between countries since the 60s and see for yourself how far behind we are.
I am glad that the king, a symbol of waste can appoint the thief that people supposedly voted for. Morocco now is a great country thanks to the prime sinister Abbas alfachi.
To all those who defend this despot, family and his cronies, these people are sucking the blood of the Moroccans and will continue to do so if we do not put an end to it.
Your children will never forgive you for selling your country by siding with the tyrant, the “king of the poor” as he claims.
Maybe a little research will show you who the poor is, him or the entire nation.
If you are too stupid or lazy to vote you deserve to lose. By the way, a real democrat knows that you vote even if the majority do not support you. In a democracy you don’t insult the winner you congratulate them. And calling the King a Tyrant is the real insult to intelligence. Stalin was a Tyrant, compared to him the King is a saint!
This is the definition of “tyrant”:
1. An absolute ruler who governs without restrictions.
2. A ruler who exercises power in a harsh, cruel manner.
3. An oppressive, harsh, arbitrary person.
While Stalin was 1, 2, and 3, Mohammed V is 1, a partial 2 and 3.
Hope this works for you.
By the way, that first sentence of yours does not make sense. But, whatever dude…
“1. An absolute ruler who governs without restrictions”
No mortal, be he a king, general or president, governs without restrictions. If Mohammed VI were a real absolute ruler he would have no need for any constitution at all.
“2. A ruler who exercises power in a harsh, cruel manner”
If that were the defining criteria for being a tyrant then every ruler who ever lived was or is one. Simply being cruel or harsh does not make a Tyrant. To be a true tyrant you must be evil. Your cruelty must be of a scale almost beyond belief. This is why Stalin was a real Tyrant, he put 30 million men, women and children to death! Mohammed VI is not a Tyrant, he is a wise and just leader and a true prince of the believers. Is he going to single-handedly fix everything that is wrong with Morocco? No. But he is trying to do what he can. This is more than we can say for the new dictators of Egypt and Tunisia and whoever the West makes the new puppet ruler of Libya.
1. A constitution serves many purposes; this venue is too narrow to explain them all. In democratic countries, it protects the people and limits the governance; in Morocco, it protects the ruler and limits the people. The Moroccan government relies on grants and political favors from the EU and the U.S., and institutions they control; Democratic pretense is a strategic priority.
2. History is replete with examples to refute that argument. I understand your idolization of the king and respect your opinion.
I won’t vote for the new constitution, and I will never do, our destiny is to always be miserable and pathetic, the country never go forward, it takes at least five or six centuries, but the problem is we are not sure that the human race will survive for even another century … everyone is for himself,it’s the only rule in Morocco, so it’s never going to go forward, i’m sorry but it’s the heavy truth, and I’m kind of realistic!
